Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent the Russian player won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 various competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour championship, took control to push for a decider.
He saved 4 early chances in a close third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
